Talk Title

Gravitational waves echoes from Compact Stars

Abstract

It has recently been claimed that a gravitational wave echo has been produced in the GW170817 event with a frequency of about 72 Hz. Gravitational wave echoes can be produced after the merging of compact stars if the post-merger object features a photon-sphere. In this talk I will speculate on the possibility that, during the merging, an ultracompact star is produced that crosses the photon-sphere line in the mass radius diagram. Considering realistic equation of states, the estimated frequencies of the GW echoes are of the order of tens of kHz.
