Non-featureless Black-Hole Evaporation

Abstract

Macroscopic manifestations of a quantum system depend on both its state and external fields. A prime example of this in gravity is black-hole evaporation. We argue that evaporating black holes can give rise to an extra outward positive-energy flux. The spectral density of this flux turns out to be non-featureless, meaning that that carries unique information about its source, i.e. a black hole.
