Talk Title

Synthetic surveys of supermassive black holes

Abstract

Accretion disks around (supermassive) black holes (SMBHs) are the structures i) reaching closest to the horizon of, and ii) mediating most of the matter transport (in)to a BH. In my talk I will first present recent results of numerical models simulating the accretion-driven evolution of the masses of SMBHs. Then I will show how a comparison of real-Universe surveys and of synthetic surveys of SMBHs may shed light on both, the processes driving the evolution of SMBHs as well as the cosmological evolution.
