Neutrino Production In Blazars |
Abstract |
The diffuse flux of TeV-PeV neutrinos detected with IceCube indicates extraterrestrial neutrino emission from cosmic accelerators of yet unknown nature. Among the prime source candidates are blazars, which dominates the extragalactic gamma-ray emission detected by Fermi. We discuss several possible scenarios in which the neutrino and the multi-waveband photon emission from blazars are explained simultaneously using a self-consistent radiation model. For application, we will present our analysis to the case of TXS0506+056, where IceCube recently reported a neutrino event that coincides with a bright gamma-ray flare of it, which may be the first direct evidence for an extragalactic source of high energy cosmic rays. |
