Searches for prompt gamma-ray counterparts of multi-messenger transients with INTEGRAL

Abstract

We discuss searches for gamma-ray counterparts with different instruments on-board INTEGRAL observatory. Owing to it's highly eccentric orbit, INTEGRAL is not affected by the Earth occultation and observes the entire sky for about 85% of the time, in very stable background conditions. With its exceptionally large gamma-ray detectors, INTEGRAL features high sensitivity, particularly to hard GRBs (>~100 keV). We discuss how the INTEGRAL features allowed it to the achieve an independent detection of GRB170817A in association with GW170817, and put constraining upper limits on the binary black hole merger counterparts. Finally, we discuss the evolution of the services provided for publicly accessing the INTEGRAL data and analysis tools in the multi-messenger era.
