Axion-Electron and Axion-Photon coupling from Globular Clusters |
Abstract |
Axions with mass of a few KeV or lower can be efficiently produced by thermal processes taking place in stellar interiors. In particular, Bremsstrahlung axions can be released in the degenerate core of Red Giant stars, while Primakoff and Compton axions can accelerate the evolution of core-He burning stars. Basing on a detailed analysis of the photometric properties of RGB and HB stars belonging to Galactic Globular Clusters, we have derived a method to put stringent upper bounds to the strengths of the Axion-Photon and Axion-Electron couplings. The method as well as the preliminary results of our analysis will be discussed in some details. |
