Abstract |
The gravitational wave (GW) detectors advanced LIGO and advanced Virgo have detected five binary black hole systems and the coalescence of a pair of Neutron stars, leading to the largest astronomical observation campaign ever. The long term goal of the GW community is doing routine GW astronomy exploring the full potential of GW observations. This requires a significant improvement of the sensitivity of the instruments, which is beyond the capability of the current facilites. The presentation will give an overview of the European 3rd generation gravitational wave detector Einstein Telescope. |
