Gravitational Waves and Binaries |

Abstract |
We present the general theory of gravitational waves emitted by a binary system. We characterize the systems with electromagnetic counterpart to asses its possible detection by interferometers. A semi-analytical approach to calculate the waveform, which includes strong-field effects, is presented and compared with numerical relativity simulations. |
