Talk Title

An Algebroid Structure for Double Field Theory

Abstract

When quantum gravitational effects become important, a departure from the Riemannian geometry of general relativity is expected. Generalized geometry is a well motivated extension of Riemannian geometry, notably due to its appearance in closed string theory, whose low energy limit gives general relativity plus higher order corrections. On the other hand, attempts to construct a T-duality invariant action for closed strings, led to the development of double field theory (DFT), which is formulated on a doubled spacetime. DFT is a constrained theory and it reduces to supergravity after imposing a section condition. In this talk, we discuss geometric aspects of DFT, and propose a mathematical structure underlying the theory, demonstrating its connections with generalized geometry.
