New Teleparallel Gravity Models

Abstract

Motivated by the example of f(T) gravity, we present two novel approaches to formulate large classes of new modified teleparallel gravity models. The first one is the f(T_vec,T_ax,T_ten) gravity model introduced in Phys.Lett. B775 (2017) 37-43 (ArXiv:1706.04920), where the Lagrangian is taken to be a function of three quadratic torsion invariants that is particularly suitable to study behaviour under conformal transformations. The other model is the axiomatic teleparallel framework introduced in Phys.Rev. D97 (2018) 104042 (ArXiv:1711.09930), which is inspired by the axiomatic approach to non-linear electrodynamics. Within this framework various previously studied modified teleparallel gravity theories can be realized in an unified fashion using different constitutive relations between torsion and excitation tensors. Both these novel approaches allow us to study generic properties of modified gravity theories and obtain new insights that will be discussed in this presentation.
